From a trained artist to an active brewer, this is the career path Johannes Heidenpeter has taken in recent years. He has not forgotten his artistic work since then, only his field of work has completely changed. Instead of handling paintbrushes, the Hanover native has preferred to wield the sceptre in his own microbrewery in Kreuzberg's Markthalle Neun since December 2012. Heidenpeter has not learned brewing per se, so he has taken a rather unconventional approach to the craft since 2010. He took his first steps in brewing in his private kitchen, with friends serving as sommeliers. In the more than 120-year-old walls of Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg, Heidenpeters has been brewing at least eleven different types of beer since summer 2016, some of them seasonal. Anyone who wants to indulge in the art of brewing on site will even find a small bar above the microbrewery.
