Typically, master brewers are the ones who direct the brewery's operations and ensure the beer flows. This is also the case at Hopfenheld – but here, the team is comprised not only of master brewers, but also of a whole host of beer experts. Professionals who have learned what's important when it comes to brewing beer in a variety of different professions.

A team of professionals

The brewery's brewhouse is staffed by three master brewers and a brewing engineer. These master brewers combine years of experience and applied knowledge gained around the world. Florian Kosina, for example, worked in a brewery in India, while Matthias Strauß is not only a master brewer but also a festival host. Ludwig Hörnlein comes from a family of brewers and is carrying on the artisanal legacy of his ancestors in the fifth generation. Matthias Grall is a brewing engineer and the man behind the technology at Hopfenheld: Like Ludwig and the other Matthias, he has run his own brewery for decades and is a major player in Germany's beer scene when it comes to open fermentation. International expertise and ancient Bavarian tradition are an unbeatable combination that can be tasted in every drop of beer. Significantly involved in the brewing process are not only the master brewers and the engineer, but also beer sommelier Meinhard Wicht, the beer blogger Bavarian BeerDudes, and a number of beer connoisseurs who call themselves Hardcore Fans NRW. This illustrious group of beer-loving men join forces to create brews that ensure pure enjoyment.

Seasonal specialties with attention to detail

The range consists of sophisticated brews that are adapted to the respective season and deliver a harmonious taste experience for every season. To achieve the best possible result, the focus is not only on this, but on every single step of the production process. With an eye for detail and vision, beer ideas are born, which are then refined to perfection using hand-picked raw materials, craftsmanship, innovative technology, and plenty of time. The beer of the 2025 summer season is called Sommerfrische and is a cold-hopped specialty that perfectly captures the lightness and beauty of the warm season. The brewery has imposed strict quality controls and even developed its own seal of approval. The Hopfenheld brewing seal guarantees the absence of artificial additives, the use of high-quality ingredients, sustainable production, and much more.
