Bavarian beer was and is a driving force that has given birth to many innovations. The barley juice has inspired famous men and women all over the world to heroic deeds and inventions, brave steps, eloquent speeches, lively documents and other achievements. The beer from Bavaria also played a key role at Carlsberg and the subsidiaries of the brewery empire.
When Jacob Christian Jacobsen put the first sip of Bavarian brewing art to his lips in 1836, he immediately knew that this would be his future. He dedicated his life to perfecting and spreading the good barley juice and founded his brewery in 1847, less than ten years later. As a philanthropist and admirer of science, he was interested in the intricacies and complications of the brewing process and employed a team that could meet and exceed his high standards. During Jacob Christian's lifetime, the first barrels were exported from Denmark to Scotland, and after his death his son successfully continued the company. The brewery still exists today and has blossomed into a global competitor and a collection of numerous brands and varieties. One of these brands is Bryggeriet Jacobsen, which honors the legacy of its founder to this day.
The small brewery is connected to the Carlsberg research center and draws on the diverse possibilities that this connection offers. These include one of the world's largest yeast collections, a wealth of experience and a well-developed network. The Jacobsen brewery is also located in one of the historic buildings of its parent brewery: the venerable house on Valby Hill had not previously been used for brewing, but the hall was used as a carriage building and the full beer barrels were loaded onto horse-drawn carriages using a steam winch. Tradition and craftsmanship still play a major role in the Jacobsen house today. The company wants to continue the founding father's life's work and does its best every day to produce excellent beer of great quality. A range of different beer creations reflect both the love of Bavarian brewing and the Danish beer tradition. Seasonal specialties such as the popular Golden Naked Christmas Ale complement the core range and provide variety in the glass.
