Lübeck Bay is a place with a rugged charm and picturesque corners. Long, dune-fringed sandy beaches, quaint little harbors with wooden fishing boats, lively piers, woven beach chairs with colorful cushions, old villas, idyllic cafés, seagulls, seashells, and a constant breeze invite you to stroll and linger. This stretch of coastline on the Baltic Sea attracts countless visitors year after year and offers its residents a vibrant environment with numerous attractions that enhance their quality of life. One of these attractions is, for example, the local beer: The Lübeck area boasts a wealth of breweries that enrich the culinary landscape with handcrafted specialties made from hops and malt. One of these breweries is Buchtvolk Brewing.
Amaury Greiner's story is defined by two great passions: This Lübeck native loves the coast, the sea, and the wild beauty of his homeland – and beer. The local supermarkets and beverage stores offer a fine selection of brews. Besides German beers, you can also find French and Belgian varieties. This wide range of different brews delights Amaury. So when his friend Daniel invites him to a brewing course at the adult education center, he doesn't hesitate and accepts. During the course, he delves deep into the subject and learns the intricacies behind his favorite beverage. For the first time, he holds a mash paddle, feels the malt, smells the hops, and experiences firsthand how the yeast carries out its fascinating work. The fascination is ignited, but many years would pass before Amaury dares to take the plunge and brew his own beer. Together with Benjamin, a beer-loving friend, the first brews are created within his own four walls, and the newly minted brewer discovers that his creations are well received by his friends and family.
In 2024, the plan gained momentum, and Amaury founded the Buchtvolk Brewing brand. The recipes for his range are still developed at home on his small homebrewing system. Once the beer is perfect, however, it's produced on a larger scale in collaboration with a contract brewery. The partner brewery provides Amaury with invaluable support and allows him to operate a commercial beer brand even without his own brewing equipment. The selection is small but exquisite. Amaury brews what he feels like, drawing inspiration from around the world. His creations are handcrafted brews brimming with heart and character, powerfully capturing the lifestyle of the Nordic coast.
