Germany is home to some of Europe's oldest breweries, producing the finest barley for centuries, some of which are still run by descendants of the founding families. One of these venerable breweries is the Fürst Wallerstein Brewery, first documented in 1598.
The company is backed by the princely family of Oettingen-Wallerstein, which looks back on a history spanning around 900 years. Wallerstein was chosen as the family's headquarters back in the 17th century and remains the hub of princely affairs to this day. Hereditary Prince Carl-Eugen and his wife Princess Anna head the brewery, forestry operations, beverage retail, Ruhewald forest, and the other companies under the patronage of the Oettingen-Wallerstein family. This unbeatable team has five children together and works diligently every day to continue the legacy of their ancestors. They bear the responsibility of more than 30 generations – a yoke they bear with ease, grace, and joie de vivre.
The brewery is a jewel in the crown of the princely group: It is located within the venerable walls of the Old Castle on the Schlossberg, which rises above the small village. In addition to state-of-the-art brewing facilities and the latest technology, you'll find relics of bygone eras: beautiful copper pans that are still maintained and used today, and a rock cellar where the beer was aged hundreds of years ago. At Wallerstein, they focus on an unbeatable combination of tradition and modernity. They combine old craftsmanship and recipes passed down from generation to generation with contemporary concepts, state-of-the-art technology, and fresh ideas. Despite all the progress, however, one thing is strictly observed: enjoyment is the focus and the value that guides the daily work at the brewery. The beers are made from regional raw materials, the master brewers are the best in their field, the craftsmanship is based on millennia of experience, and every move is made with passion and attention to detail. The fast pace and hectic pace of our times have no place in the brewhouse, nor do they play a role in the fermentation cellar. Good things take time – Wallerstein has long understood this. Their selection of the finest beers speaks for itself. The core range consists of down-to-earth beer creations, home-distilled spirits, and a delicious cola mix. Each individual beer has been carefully developed, produced with dedication, and is designed to elicit a comforting "mmmm" from its customers.
