The German word chips comes from English and refers to crispy fried potato slices, which we particularly like to snack on in the evening in front of the TV. If you ask for a packet of chips in the United States, you'll easily be given the product you want, but in the UK it's a different story. The word chips also exists, but it means something different. The British call chips fries, the potato slices are called crisps.

Two different friends with a common mission

The English company John & John specializes in the production of chips, even if they are called crisps in the small factory. According to legend, the company was founded by two friends. Both bear the name John, but lead very different lives. One John is a trained potato farmer and has swapped the tractor for the cooking pot. He is known throughout the region for his excellent chip recipe and now sells the crispy specialties not only throughout the country but also beyond. Part of his secret recipe are the fine spices that the other John discovers on his travels around the world. He is a sailor by profession and travels all over the world to find the most aromatic and best raw materials for his friend's chips. The friends combine their respective areas of expertise and make the best chips in the country.

With peel and taste

The irresistible potato snack is made from old potato varieties such as Lady Claire or Lady Rosetta. The tubers come from English soil and are carefully processed. For added flavor and crunch, the potatoes are washed but not peeled. They are cut into thick slices including the peel and cooked at low temperatures in golden sunflower oil. The result is crispy chips with a wonderfully crispy consistency. To give them the finishing touch, the potato slices are refined with exotic spices. The finest sea salt from the Middle East is used for the salty classics . The pepper for the version with a kick comes from India: On the shores of the Malabar Coast and on the mountain range behind it, the pepper grows particularly well and produces flavorful grains.

Chips don't have a great reputation due to their greasy nature, but most of us still can't keep our hands off them. So if you allow yourself to slip up every now and then, then we recommend the chips from John & John. They are worth the sin and, with their fine aroma, go wonderfully with a cold beer!
