In 1987, Rogues came up with the idea of founding a brewpub, which was realized one year later in Ashland, Oregon (USA).
When one of the founders set off to Newport to find a location for a new Rogue Pub, he ended up stranded in the historic bay of Newport. There he met Mohava Niemi, the owner of Mo's Restaurants. She told him about her dream of living above a pub. She had empty warehouses that were just over 100 m² in size. This was an opportunity for both sides. She offered them the space at an extremely generous price under two conditions:
#1 Give something back to the local community
#2 Put up a memorable picture of Mo forever (This still stands to the left of the bar)
In the shadow of Mount Hood and the heart of the Willamette Valley, they now grow their own hops, barley, rye, honey, pumpkin and other ingredients needed for their beers, spirits, ciders and lemonades.
