Behind the Belgian Brasserie St. Feuillien stands a textbook power woman: Stéphanie Friart. She founded the brewery in 1873 and brewed such good beer that it won her numerous awards. The brewery is still owned by the Friart family today, who are turning heads not only in Belgium with their excellent beers such as the Grisette Blond .
Family ties
Stéphanie Friart founded the brewery in Le Roeulx in 1873. She brewed light, digestible beers that were extremely successful. Her nephew Benoît Friart continued her success after taking over the brewery from her in 1920. He bought another brewery in addition to Stéphanie's and ran both breweries until the Second World War. After the war, his son took over the St. Feuillien brewery. The St. Feuillien Brasserie is still family-run today. The Friarts put all their heart and soul and a lot of passion into their beer and ensure that the brewery is always state-of-the-art. The facility has been renovated and modernized several times. The focus is always on the quality of the beer. The Friarts attach great importance to honoring their historical roots and upholding local traditions. Old recipes are cherished and cared for, but in addition to the classics, the brewery is enthusiastically developing new, creative beers. Especially during the last ten years, work has been done to make the processes and procedures in the brewery more efficient and sustainable.
Belgian beer specialists
To this day, the Friarts have managed to maintain Stéphanie's high standards. The beer was already award-winning back then and it still is today. Audience favorites such as Grisette Blond Bio have been and continue to be awarded prestigious prizes. Belgian beer has experienced a true renaissance in recent years and is one of the most popular beer styles thanks to the emerging craft beer movement. Whether Tripel, Geuze or Kriek - the Belgians know their craft and produce exceptional beers with interesting flavors that challenge beer drinkers. One of the Belgians' specialties is festival beers. Almost every brewery has a Christmas beer and special beers are also dedicated to other festivities.
In Belgium, people love and live beer, and you can feel it when you enjoy one of their wonderful beers.
