The Original Leipziger Gose is a beer that was recently rescued from obscurity. The old German beer style has its roots in Goslar and is named after the Gose river that flows through Goslar. Through detours and over the course of a few years, the Gose spread eastwards and reached Leipzig. The refreshingly sour beer was met with great enthusiasm there and soon became known as the Leipzig city beer. The Gose is brewed with lactic acid bacteria, coriander and salt. This means that it does not comply with the Bavarian Purity Law, but is nevertheless a very special beer specialty that has found many fans in the beer scene.
The Original Leipziger Gose from Bayerischer Bahnhof is not just another beer in the brewery's wide range, but rather the hobbyhorse and namesake of the brewery. The full name is Gosebrauerei Bayerischer Bahnhof and they are proud of the tried and tested Gose recipe, according to which Gose is still brewed according to the Leipzig model.
The Original Leipziger Gose flows into the glass in an almost clear, sunny yellow gold tone and forms a fleeting head of foam. A wonderfully spicy aroma rises from the white fluff, smelling of freshly cut coriander, malt and creamy lemon cake. A touch of salt gives the aroma a surprisingly pleasant savory note. The taste follows the olfactory first impression straight away and presents a softly malty beer that tastes wonderfully sour. A hint of citrus fruit mixes with a hint of salt, and the coriander makes a big appearance in the finish.
