Steaming on the Dok of a Bay is a brew from Buddelship. For this creation, the team at the Hamburg brewery was inspired by the traditional art of brewing in California. The brew is a so-called California Common: This type of steam beer owes its international reputation to the Anchor Brewing Company from San Francisco, although the style has its origins in Bavaria. The classic is fermented with a lager yeast. However, fermentation takes place at higher temperatures, which are usually used when fermenting with ale yeasts. This small change in the brewing process results in a full-bodied roasted note and creamy caramel notes.
Steaming on the Dok of a Bay was created in collaboration with the Dok Brewing Company from Belgium and, in addition to a pleasant 5.1% alcohol content and a decent 40 bitter units, brings a mix of different malts and the aroma of the Northern Brewer and Brewer’s Gold hops Glass. The beer presents itself in a delicately cloudy amber gold in the glass and is crowned with beige, creamy foam. The initial taste is crisp and fresh and leads directly to a silky malt richness. Toffee, oven-fresh bread, roasted aromas and a clear bitterness ensnare the palate before the beer enjoyment ends with a dry, hoppy finish.
