Before breweries could fall back on the artificial cold created by cold stores, they only brewed in the autumn and winter months. March was the last opportunity to brew beer and the Märzen was accordingly a very special beer. Märzen was a strong beer that could be stored in the cellar for a long time so that you could have something of this last beer of the brewing season for as long as possible. The drinkable beer is no longer brewed in March and tastes good all year round thanks to the harmonious balance between sweet malt and fine hops.
The Märzen from Hofmark has a puss in boots on the label and has been part of the range since the beginning of the brewery.
Behind the black cat hides a strong red-gold beer with a crown of fragrant foam. From the creamy splendor in light beige, a seductive scent of freshly baked bread, roasted malt, creamy caramel and a hint of herbs rises into the nose. The initial taste reveals a well-hopped Märzen with a pronounced malt character and fine bitterness. Full-bodied notes of toasted malt and gently melting caramel caramelize the palate, the hops add a fine herbal note and subtle hints of orange and grapefruit. The finish tastes like freshly cut herbs and is pleasantly tart.
