Northern Germany is known for its clear, no-frills beers. For a long time there was no beer worth mentioning in the far north and the south was home to most of the country’s beer regions. That has changed since there were more northern German breweries again and the local beer has developed a real character: The beer of the far north is straightforward and delights with great clarity, clean notes and dry tartness.
The Störtebeker brewery from Stralsund has contributed to the new image of North German beers and enriches the market with clean, calm brewing specialties.
Übersee-Pils is a real favorite in the range and is made from ingredients that are grown in certified organic farming. Störtebekers Pils is presented in a shiny golden yellow in the glass and is adorned with a crown of large-pored, white foam. A fine scent of citrus fruits, grassy hops and herbs mixes in the nose with the aroma of oven-fresh biscuits. The initial taste reveals a slim, light-footed body with sparkling carbon dioxide and a fresh mouthfeel. In terms of aroma, the repertoire of Übersee-Pils ranges from delicate malt notes to soft honey, citrus fruits and freshly mown grass to yeast-spicy notes of dough. The finish rounds off the beer enjoyment with dry tartness and a pointed bitterness.
