According to the brewery, the Altbier from the Uerige top-fermenting house brewery is always on the list of the best beers in Germany and is the beer with the highest bitter content in the country.
The brewery comes from Düsseldorf and the Altbier is a specialty of the region. The Altbier is traditionally a brown beer that is made with a whole range of hand-picked malts and a top-fermented yeast strain. Uerige has its own brewer’s yeast strains that were specially developed for the production of Düsseldorf beer creations and are passed on from generation to generation of brewers. The Uerige Altbier has been around in its current form since 1862 and is brewed with barley, caramel and roasted malt. The finest cone hops and the special yeast complete the list of ingredients and make the balanced Altbier a real treat.
The original Düsseldorfer Alt from Uerige flows into the glass in a dark chestnut brown and has a slightly tinted crown of airy foam on its clear body. A scent of freshly baked bread, woody herbs and full-bodied malt rises in the nose and tempts you to take the first sip. The initial taste reveals a light-footed body with a full-bodied aroma: soft caramel notes lie velvety on the tongue, hints of roasted nuts, crunchy bread crust, spicy herbs and a hint of liquorice join in during the drinking pleasure. The strong bitterness harmoniously underlines the play of aromas.
