Brothers Cosmas Damian and Egid Quirin Asam are known for their creativity and inventive spirit long after their deaths. Her works from the late baroque period can be admired all over southern Bavaria and lend pomp and pomp to sacred buildings in Munich, Straubing, Bamberg, Freising and Innsbruck. The brothers’ artful frescoes have already fascinated countless people and still inspire them today.
The Weltenburg monastery church is one of the best-known works by the two artists: in a spectacular total work of art, Cosmas and Egid unite all the disciplines of their art and create a church that could not be more magnificent. The Weltenburg Abbey owes an eternal debt of gratitude to the Asam brothers and has therefore commissioned a beer that expresses its gratitude in the most palatable way. The Asam Bock from the Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei is a strong strong beer with an alcohol content of 7.3% and a wonderfully dark, opaque mahogany colour. The bock is crowned with a compact head of foam in creamy hazelnut brown and exudes a malty scent with hints of coffee, roasted grain and caramel. The initial taste reveals a full-bodied malt body and a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Intense notes of freshly brewed coffee, toasted malt, caramelized nuts and fruity undertones flatter the taste buds. Despite its high alcohol content, the Bock is harmonious, round and very drinkable.
