As a newcomer to beer, you occasionally wonder what all the hype about beer glasses is all about. Beer is filled into bottles or cans and is wonderful to drink from.
It’s correct. However, it is not about drinking for us, but rather about enjoying. Undoubtedly, you can also enjoy a beer straight from the bottle or can, but doing so deprives you of some components. Even if you think that the color of the beer doesn’t necessarily play a role in the taste, you can’t deny that the eye also drinks. With a delicious meal, the joy begins when the beautifully arranged plate is on the table in front of you, the same can be said about a cleverly poured beer in bright amber with a stately foam crown. Of course you could drink the beer without the optics, but it adds to the anticipation and is simply fun. The same can be said of the scent that rises from the crowning splendor on the beer: a tiny spark of scent also rises from the can, but the glass presents the full olfactory picture. The smell contributes significantly to the taste, which is why the glass is worth it.
Or a jug. How about, for example, the beautiful glass mugs from the Franconian brewery Hummel here?
