If there’s one thing the Sudden Death Brewing guys are particularly good at, it’s overdoing it. Nobody masters the controlled excess as well as Oliver and Jan. Too much hops? There is clearly no sudden death in the house. Therefore, the Double Dry Hopped IPA Speedfreak is absolutely no eccentric in the hoppy range of the timmendorfer brewery.
Speedfreak is brewed with the El Dorado and Bru-1 hop varieties, and the brewers have also used the dewy Experimental Hort 4337 variety. It goes without saying that no normal amounts of hops have found their way into the boiler, but the maximum possible amount. The result of the hop sauce is a beer that is fruity, floral, tropical, bitter and smooth at the same time.
It’s gotta be magic.
The DDH IPA flows out of the can in a naturally cloudy amber gold and shows a wonderfully airy foam head with medium pores in a stable beige in the glass. From an olfactory point of view, Speedfreak is markedly fruity and delivers notes of pineapple, passion fruit, peach and grapefruit. Unsurprisingly, the first sip feels like a tropical tidal wave. Juicy pineapple, ripe peach, delicious passion fruit and pink grapefruit celebrate an exuberant beach party on the tongue, tangy citrus fruits and a decent hop bitterness are also part of the party.
