Depending on the region and dialect, half a liter is called Seidel, Schoppen, Halbe or Nößel. There are certainly thousands of other names for the unit of measurement, but only one is actually used in and around Bamberg: Seidla.

If you order a Seidla in the pub, you usually get a cool, fresh beer in no time at all. Even if the Seidla always has the same filling quantity, it comes in various variations. There are clay, stoneware or glass jugs with and without pewter or wooden lids, bottles and a whole range of different glasses . Probably the most common Seidla glass in Franconia is the Willy cup. It presents Pils, Lager, Helle and all sorts of beers in an equally elegant way, feels good in the hand, stands stable on the table and sounds quite acceptable when you toast it. Most breweries, pubs, bars and beer gardens serve their beer in them and many of them even have their own designed Willy mug.

The smallest brewery in Bamberg is called Hopfengarten, is an unusual combination of brewery and nursery and of course also has a glass in its range. Your Seidla glass is adorned with a green print of the logo: hop cones crowned by the four towers of the cathedral in a harmonious dance with the name of the brewery. Nice!
