In addition to yeast-intensive beers, it is primarily the fruit and sour beers that have given the Flügge brewery its good name. Dominik and Joachim are yeast experts and are also good with fruit. Mija is a seasonal beer with plums.
The Mija label already allows conclusions to be drawn about the contents: a purple bird presents all facets of the color of plums, and the name Plum Season is written on the front. The guys from Flügge stand behind their word and have put the plum not only on the label but also behind it. To give their beer fermented with Blaugies yeast a plummy touch, they stored the beer on fresh plum puree. This measure infiltrates the beer with the wonderful aroma of late summer plums and also gives it a beautiful color.
Mija flows into the glass in a coppery amber tone and, when exposed to light, shows reflections in all variations of plum. A wonderful plum aroma rises from the beige foam, which mixes with spicy yeast and juicy red berries on the nose. The initial taste surprises with a fruity acidity that reaches the palate before any other aromas. The full-bodied, sweet aroma of fresh plum follows the acidity and brings with it a hint of lime, some malt and a little bit of clove. The finish is acidic again. The acidity is dry and combines with spicy yeast and a grassy hop note.
