Sour beers have become more and more popular in recent years. Before, such beers were regionally limited: In some places there has always been sour beer, in other places not. Leipzig, for example, is one of the traditional sour beer locations with the Gose, and the special beer style has also been part of the repertoire of brewers in Belgium for centuries. The craft beer movement has put sour ale back in the limelight and today there are countless breweries that have a choice of sour beers as well as their modern craft beers.
An example is the Denver brewery Black Project. Dedicated to working with wild yeast and spontaneous fermentation, the resourceful Americans have a range that consists almost exclusively of artisanal sour beers fermented using unconventional means.
A favorite among her creations is her Sour Golden Ale called Butcher. The lean beer comes with an impressive 7.14% alcohol content and will drive you crazy with the seductive aroma of fresh cherries and raspberries. The delicious summer fruits run like a red thread through the enjoyment of beer and shape the look as well as the smell and taste. The berry-colored delicacy smells and tastes of freshly harvested cherries and raspberries, a hint of lime and a fruity acidity harmoniously round off the beer enjoyment.
