The Trappist beers from Belgium are a very special specialty that are protected with a seal of quality. Only a small number of breweries worldwide have the honor of wearing this seal and being able to call their beers “Trappist beers”. The Brasserie Rochefort from Belgium bears the Trappist seal with great pride and produces beers that not only taste excellent, but also come from a long brewing tradition.
Number 10 from Brasserie Rochefort’s traditional range was developed in 1952 when the brewery was modernized and adapted to the standards of commercial breweries. The festival beer should have a special character and be different depending on the occasion. For this purpose, rock sugar was added to the recipe. Since then, two different types of malt, our own yeast strain and two types of aromatic hops have been used to produce Rochefort Trappistes 10.
The unfiltered beer flows into the glass in a deep, dark copper tone and forms a small, stable head of foam. A wonderful potpourri of scents rises from the creamy, hazelnut-brown foam. On the nose, dried, dark fruits, soft caramel and toffee combine to form a seductive mixture that makes you want to take the first sip. On the tongue, the Belgian beer is complex and full-bodied, as can already be guessed from the scent. Skillfully balanced, rich malt notes and a fine hop bitterness pamper the palate. The 11.3% alcohol content is cleverly integrated into a cornucopia of aromatic taste.
