The hoppiest beer in the range of the Dutch brewery Gebrouwen door Vrouwen is Hop and Happening. The Hop Bomb is a crunchy pale ale with a tasty 4.5% alcohol, which is brewed with large amounts of the two hops Oktawia and Callista. Callista gives the beer fine notes of citrus fruits and passion fruit, while Oktawia complements the fruit salad with juicy honeydew melon and the aroma of white grapes. In order to extract the maximum of taste and aroma from the hops, the two brewers used the technique of cold hops. With this method, the beer is hopped again after the first hop. The second addition of hops deepens the taste without increasing the bitterness excessively.
The result of this elaborate process is a deep golden beer crowned with a volatile crown of snow-white, dense-pored foam. On the nose, the fruity beer presents itself with a dominant pineapple note, which combines with the scent of green hop cones to form a delicious mixture. The initial taste is also fruity: juicy notes of citrus and tropical fruit flood the mouth before a crisp bitterness sets in and the playful sweetness balances out. Thanks to its summery, tasty nature, the pale ale from Gebrouwen door Vrouwen goes wonderfully with hearty dishes from the grill. A well-filled burger, for example, harmonizes wonderfully with the fruity freshness.
