Part two of the Evolution of IPA series from Two Chefs Brewing is a juicy West Coast IPA. As the name suggests, this style of beer originated on the west coast of the United States and arose in the early forerunners of the craft beer movement. In the late 1980s, the so-called C-hops came into focus: Hop farmers began to cultivate varieties such as Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Columbus and Comet. These hops are characterized by their complexity of aromas and, in addition to a whole lot of taste, also brought a crisp bitterness to the beer.
Since then, the West Coast IPA has made a real rocket launch and built a fan community that extends far beyond America’s borders. Many beer connoisseurs appreciate the special beer for its strong bitterness, the intense hops character and the balanced proportion of soft malt.
The Dutch brewery Two Chefs Brewing has chosen all five C-hops for its creation and brewed a fabulous hoppy beer from them. Your West Coast IPA is a cloudy orange in the glass and has a noble copper-red sheen. Lively citrus notes and all sorts of other scents invite you to take the first sip. This lies down velvety on the tongue and tickles the taste buds with refreshing citrus fruit, soft caramel and spicy pine notes. The proper bitterness skillfully rounds off the play of aromas.
