To take their stout to the next level, the brewers at the Steamworks brewery used a very special technique: they turned the conventional stout into a nitro stout. This special variant of a normal stout is characterized by its wonderfully thick, dense-pored and long-lasting foam and the silky-soft, smooth texture. The effect is achieved by adding nitrogen and reducing the carbon dioxide content.
The Nitro Stout also cuts a pretty good figure in the glass. The nitrogen dances through the infinite depths of the mahogany-colored beer and culminates in a sumptuous crown of hazelnut-brown, creamy foam. The scent consists of crispy bread crust, freshly brewed coffee, strong roasted malt and cocoa and puts you in a good mood at the first sip. The first sip reveals a surprisingly lean body with a heavenly smooth mouthfeel. The malty beer presents a play of aromas that tastes of cocoa, roasted nuts, caramel, roasted grain and stone oven bread. A fine, dry bitterness elegantly rounds off the taste experience and skilfully balances the diverse sweetness.
For maximum foam, the brewery recommends turning the can upside down a few times before pouring the beer into the glass. If you hold the can close to the glass flowing into the beer when pouring, you get a particularly fine-pored foam. Enjoy!
