How can you tell that the brewers at Nøgne Ø are really up for brewing? With their outstanding beers, of course! The enthusiastic craft brewers bring out one blast after the other and climb milestone by milestone. The 500th batch of beer was a particularly big step. The brewers duly celebrated this success and created a beer to celebrate the day that honors this milestone.
# 500 is an Imperial India Pale Ale, in which the number 5 plays a leading role. The 5 is found in the name of the beer and determines both the number of hops used and the malts. 5 is a factor of 10, so the 10% alcohol content fits perfectly into the concept and the crisp 100 bitter units are also consistent. But not only the math behind the beer is correct, but also the look, smell and taste. # 500 has a full-bodied character with strong notes of hops and a rich variety of complementing malts. The beer was cold-hopped and is almost reminiscent of a barley wine due to its viscosity and complex depth.
The intense beer flows into the glass in a warm gold tone and is adorned with a thick crown of white foam. The initial taste takes you into a taste paradise: Diverse citrus fruits, tropical fruits, spicy pine notes and a stunning bitterness.
