Asahi Breweries, Ltd.

Beer has countless qualities that we appreciate. At its best, it is drinkable and refreshing. It quenches thirst and delights with a subtle bitterness. In some styles it is crisply bitter, but can also be juicy and fruity, floral, malty or sour. It can have a light, shiny and transparent body, but can also be grippy, creamy, densely cloudy and powerful. Some beer styles are sweet and mellow, while others are rather dry. One of the most famous dry beers comes from Asahi, which has made dryness its hobbyhorse. rn

Dry, drier, Asahi!rn

Asahi originates from Japan and dates back to 1987. At that time, a team of brewmasters came up with the plan to brew a beer with an intensely dry character. Behind this idea was their love of sake: This alcoholic drink is made from rice and - much like beer - goes through a brewing process that involves multi-stage fermentation. Sake can be drunk cold or hot and is characterized by its noble dryness. On March 17, 1987, the first Super Dry Lager saw the light of day and set new standards. Asahi wanted to create an extra-dry beer with a crisp, fresh aroma and straightforward character that leads to a short, meaningful finish. They succeeded in this mission withAsahi Super Dry . Within a very short time, their work established itself on the Japanese market and gathered countless enthusiastic followers. Thanks to its clear flavor profile and famous dryness, the lager is a perfect complement to minimalist Japanese cuisine and tastes wonderful with fish, vegetables and rice dishes. Asahi Super Dry is now one of the most popular beers in Japan and has an international fan base. rn

The pursuit of perfection

The dry brew is still brewed according to the original recipe today, but the brewmasters are not averse to progress and constant improvement. In keeping with the Japanese pursuit of perfection, small changes are constantly being made to make the beer even better, fresher, drier and more drinkable. Today, the beer is no longer brewed only in Asia, but at various locations in order to avoid long transport routes and to be able to offer customers the freshest product possible. The crystal-clear, bright gold with the creamy, white head not only goes well with the healthy cuisine of Japan, it also tastes great with Mediterranean dishes, white meat, desserts and cheese. The lettering スーパードライ on the label can be translated as "super dry" and below it is the name of the brewery in Japanese characters. rn
