With its powerful smoked beer, the Schlenkerla brewery from Bamberg has made a good name for itself around the world. Beer fans from near and far travel to the cathedral city to taste the wonderful Maerzen beer. Schlenkerla is one of the last breweries to still malt its grain itself, giving it that incomparable smoky note in the process. Drying over beech wood used to be the only way to dry the germinated barley, today it is done fully automatically and without any smoke. The Heller brewery has preserved the tradition and the resulting taste.
Their Helles comes without any smoked malt at all. However, because the beer specialty is brewed with the same yeast and in the same boilers as the smoked beer, it brings a delicate hint of smoke into the glass. This subtle note goes wonderfully with the harmonious composition of mild malt and fresh hops and makes the light beer a very special representative of its kind.
Like its smoky colleague, the light beer is also stored in the cellar below Bamberg's Stephansberg. Centuries ago, the tunnels of the brewery were built into the rock and have housed the Schlenkerla specialties ever since. The underground climate provides the perfect atmosphere and temperature for maturation and gives the beers the finishing touch. Convince yourself of the result with this grandiose beer package!
