We associate the term New German Wave with a musical movement that began in the 1970s. NDW brought together various genres and was particularly characterized by the German-language lyrics and musicians. The scene quickly moved from the underground into the public eye and enjoyed great popularity in the early 1980s. As is often the case in the music business, the movement disappeared around 1984 and can now only be heard in the living rooms of former fans.
The Ale-Mania brewery is creating a New German Wave of a completely different kind: their beery version is a pale ale that gets its name from the exclusive use of German hop varieties. Ariana, Callista, Hüll Melon and Perle ensure a real groove in the glass and wonderfully represent the hoppy diversity of Germany.
The Neue Deutsche Welle in beer form appears in a gently clouded orange-gold in the glass and forms a stately crown of airy, white foam. The scent is made up of freshly mown grass, pine resin, citrus notes and tropical hints. The initial taste ensnares the tongue with a very similar bouquet: floral hops meet citrus fruit, pine tips, pineapple, stone fruits and a hint of grass. Soft sweetness, moderate bitterness and good spice form a harmonious balance.
