Craft beer from the north.
What is completely self-evident in the south of Germany is often found in vain in the far north: good, handcrafted beer with heart and character. Of course you can get beer on every corner in Hamburg, but discerning connoisseurs of barley juice have often had to make compromises in the past. Industrially manufactured mass-produced goods had flooded the beer market and swept smaller competitors out of the market. Fortunately, the craft beer revolution eventually reached the north and gave Hamburg a multitude of fabulous breweries. Among them is Buddelship, a brewery that aims to bring about the renaissance of real, handcrafted beers.
Kohlentrimmer is a black beer from Buddelship that delights us with its dark notes. The beer presents itself in a deep, dark mahogany tone in the glass and forms a fine, hazelnut-brown head of foam. A potpourri of scents rises from the foam, consisting of the scent of freshly roasted coffee beans and the aroma of room temperature dark chocolate. On the tongue there is carbon trimmer with a velvety mouthfeel and a full-bodied body, to which lively carbon dioxide gives a certain lightness. The taste of the black beer is enchanting with a good portion of malt. Roasted caramel notes meet coffee and chocolate on the tongue, a wonderful bitterness accompanies the play of aromas.
Kohlentrimmer is full-bodied, spicy and slightly bitter with hops - a very successful black beer that we particularly enjoy with hearty dishes.
