The Pils is still the undisputed favorite beer of the Germans: crisp, bitter and honest, it delights the masses and beats itself against the onslaught of modern, innovative and taste-intensive craft beers. But that's also because many young craft brewers are bringing out their very own interpretations of the classic, thereby catapulting Pilsner into the present.

The Aschaffenburg brewery Hanscraft & Co. has also reinterpreted the Pilsener: With just one type of hop, Christian is able to conjure up a wondrous complexity and depth in the beer. A wonderfully fruity aroma and the refreshing hoppiness on the palate lift the Kellerpils from Hanscraft out of the gray mass.

The light beer flows into the glass in a shiny golden amber tone and is minimally cloudy because it has not been filtered. A fine-pored, white foam crowns the golden beer and exudes a delicately balanced scent of floral hops, crunchy malt and tangy citrus fruit. A touch of green herbs elegantly complements the hop flower. This is where Hanscraft's Pilsner differs from its often monotonous competitors! And the initial taste is also impressive: the hops spread into the mouth in a surprisingly fruity and wonderfully floral manner. A fine, well-balanced malt base lies beneath the varied layers of hops and cleverly complements the hoppy freshness. The initially reserved bitterness increases to a crisp, bitter finish that definitely leaves you wanting more.
