The Bierothek® team wishes you a Happy New Year!
The farmer’s beer is not per se a beer style of its own. Rather, there is information that the brewery is located in the country and the farmer’s beer is usually made according to a traditional recipe. In the case of the Old Franconian farmer’s beer from the Held Bräu, both are true. The brewery is located in Oberailsfeld, a picturesque little town in Franconian Switzerland and the beer is brewed according to a recipe that has been worked on for more than 300 years. The Held Bräu is a typical family business and, in addition to the traditional brewery, also runs a cozy inn with an attached beer garden for summer use. The beers from the original Franconian brewery tell of craftsmanship, exquisite ingredients and passion.
The Polster family is proud of their roots and expresses their love for Franconian Switzerland with their dark Old Franconian farmer’s beer. The malty beer flows into the glass in the darkest shade of mahogany and shimmers ruby red when exposed to light. A crown of hazelnut-brown foam sits enthroned on the opaque body, exuding a delightful scent of strongly roasted malt, freshly baked bread, candied fruit and buttery yeast plait. The initial taste is dominated by soft malt and caresses the palate with light-footed notes of dried fruit. Gradually, fine toasted aromas and notes of dark chocolate, crusty bread crust and caramelized nuts join in.
A poem.
