The master brewer Zwickl is the golden boy in the range of the Upper Palatinate brewery Hofmark. The Bavarian classic exceeded all expectations at the World Beer Awards 2018 and won gold.
Usually the master brewer is the only one who tastes the fresh beer from the Zwicklhahn. He puts the beer through its paces during the brewing and storage process and can enjoy the naturally cloudy, unfiltered and incomparably fresh beer. At some point breweries began to share this exclusive beer enjoyment with their customers and also to sell the so-called Zwicklbier.
The Zwickl from Hofmark represents its genre with unadulterated taste, the finest raw materials and a naturally cloudy body that tempts you to drink. The natural beer flows into the glass in a slightly cloudy gold and is adorned with a crown of white, fine-pored foam. From the fluffy splendor, a spicy scent of grain and freshly baked yeast loaf rises into the nose. The initial taste shows a soft malt base, which is followed by a surprisingly large amount of hops. The creamy malt and notes of freshly baked bread and sweet caramel are accompanied by a mild hop tart that contains aromas of orange and lemon peel, fresh herbs and grass. The finish is dry and makes you want more with a skillful balance of soft malt and fresh hops.
