At the König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg, quality control is in worthy hands: In addition to the team of skilled brewmasters, His Royal Highness Prince Luitpold of Bavaria personally ensures that only the best beer is served. The monarch has not only brought the brewing facility up to the latest state of the art, he is also involved in the day-to-day brewing process and uses his good name to guarantee excellent quality and outstanding taste. One of his favorites from the wide range is the Kaltenberg Spezial, a fine Märzen with a strong 5.6% alcohol content and a malty character.
The Royal Bavarian beer is presented in a crystal-clear gold in the glass and is adorned with a stately crown of snow-white, densely porous foam. An olfactory bouquet of sun-ripened grain, fragrant hay, freshly mown grass, crispy bread crust and forest herbs tickles the nose and invites you to take a sip. A soft malt base introduces the beer pleasure. Little by little, notes of creamy blossom honey, gently roasted grain, oven-fresh bread and herbal hops join in. Caramel and herbs in the finish complete the beer pleasure.
If you would like to serve this delicacy as an accompaniment to a meal, you should choose light dishes or substantial desserts. For example, we like a carpaccio made from thinly sliced beef with a few drops of good olive oil, shaved parmesan, toasted pine nuts and rocket.
