As soon as the last warm summer day is behind us and the first colorful leaf has fallen from the tree, the Christmas season begins for many. From one day to the next, the supermarket is invaded by a host of shiny red Santa Clauses and soon cheerful Christmas carols are playing from the loudspeakers in the stores. A particularly catchy song about a deer should not be missing from any Christmas medley and often accompanies us as a persistent catchy tune well into the new year. The snappy text is about a reindeer with a German-sounding name and a special ability for which he is mocked by the other animals in the herd. At least until the day when his superpower saves Christmas by lighting the way for Santa Claus and the children of the world get their presents despite the thick fog.
Based on this classic (which you will definitely be humming for the next few hours), the Lieber Waldi brewery from Cologne has created a Christmas beer without any frills. Their festive New England IPA is called Waldi the Red Nosed Reindeer and features a Waldi dressed in winter knits with antlers and a bright red nose on the label. Behind it is a fine beer that ensures an exuberant Christmas atmosphere with a festive 6.8% alcohol content and the power of an incredible five different hop varieties.
Merry Christmas!
