Black as night and devilishly good.
Until now we always thought that the English were the undisputed masters of deep black, full-bodied beers with their stout, but this beer from the Franconian brewery Kundmüller definitely competes with its British colleagues!
Weiherer’s Schwärzla is an aromatic beer specialty with 5.3% alcohol content that not only tastes great to us. The judges of the International Craft Beer Awards have showered the fabulous dark with awards for two years in a row.
The Schwärzla flows into the glass in a deep black mahogany tone and forms a stately, hazelnut-brown head of foam. A tempting scent of freshly ground coffee and sweet, dried plums rises from the fine-pored, creamy foam. Roasted aromas and dark fruit combine to create a seductive potpourri. The initial taste delivers what the scent already promised: Schwärzla is incredibly velvety and creamy on the tongue and tastes wonderfully intense. Raisins dipped in chocolate caress the palate, a full-bodied caramel aroma with beautiful roasted notes and a fine citrus aroma of candied oranges round off the aromatic play. The beer is surprisingly light-footed and extremely drinkable thanks to its slim body. A fine bitterness complements the luxurious taste, and the lively carbon dioxide gives the beer additional lightness.
An extremely elegant, dark beer with surprising lightness and a great range of flavors.
