The similarities between beer and fine art are not apparent at first glance. But if you take a closer look at both disciplines, it becomes clear that craftsmanship is often the basis for both. Both the conception of a work of art and the creation of a beer require a certain level of creativity and dexterity and there are endless variations of both. A good brew can certainly be artistic and in any case, beer is a great companion when you look at a work of art and ponder its meaning.
The basis of these considerations is a sophisticated collaboration of art and brewing craft, which was penned by Maisel & Friends and is now in its fifth edition. The Bayreuth brewery has launched the Artbeer series and is working with internationally recognized street art artists for this series. The creative people contribute the label design, while the brewing team provides the right brew.
Artbeer #5 was created in collaboration with the Dutch artist Stefan Thelen aka Super A and is a Hazy IPA. According to his taste, the brewers have designed a full-bodied beer with a velvety, soft mouthfeel and tropical character. An incredible six hop varieties conjure up a juicy bouquet of citrus fruit, pineapple, mango, passion fruit and peach in the beer, which not only Stefan enjoys.
