In mid-October 2024, a very special event took place at the Maisel & Friends brewery in Bayreuth: Around 200 beer sommeliers from all over the world met for the annual general meeting of the Association of Beer Sommeliers. As part of the wide-ranging program, participants took part in lectures, tours, tastings and all kinds of other activities. This incomparable gathering of experts brings together a wealth of expertise, which the Maisel & Friends brewery took advantage of. As every year, a grandiose collaboration brew was brewed with selected representatives of the association.
The experts opted for a cold-hopped wheat bock. Mariana White brings a voluminous 7.5% alcohol content to the glass and is fermented with a wheat beer yeast from the brewery’s own breeding. The brew borrows its name from the hop varieties used: Mariana is made up of Mandarina Bavaria and Ariana. But the green gold not only provided the inspiration for the title, but also a whole truckload of aroma. A firework display of tropical fruits blossoms on a soft, caramel-sweet base of wheat and barley malt. Golden pineapple, juicy tangerine, freshly grated lemon peel and sweet and sour mirabelle plum meet ripe banana, spicy yeast and a pinch of clove on the palate.
Mariana White is a masterfully rounded wheat beer that scores with a velvety soft mouthfeel, full-bodied taste and fiery twists.
