Community and solidarity in the beer business play a key role at Maisel & Friends. The Bayreuth-based brewery regularly opens its doors to cuckoo breweries, organizes collaborations with colleagues from all over the world, and passionately supports young talent. Project Maisel, for example, benefits the latter.
For six years now, Project Maisel has given apprentices at Maisel & Friends the opportunity to celebrate their graduation with their own beer creation. This project involves not only apprentices from the brewhouse, but also those from other departments. With their combined expertise and combined strengths, the young people are now in their sixth year developing a collaborative brew that will enrich the product range while supplies last.
Over the course of six months, the apprentices of the 2025 graduating class have developed a New Zealand IPA that showcases the New Zealand hop varieties Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, and Wai-ITI. The brew is called Taonga and is a veritable explosion of juicy, fruity aromas. White grape, flat peach, juicy melon, golden apricot, tart grapefruit, and exotic passion fruit run like a delicious, fruity thread through the beer, dominating both the aroma and flavor. A mild bitterness elegantly rounds off this fruity cocktail.
We raise our glasses to the graduating class and wish them all the best for the future!
