In addition to its core range, the Rittmayer brewery has a whole range of special brews that are strictly limited and only appear occasionally a year. One of these series is Craftmayer : four times a year, the brewers sit down at a round table and unpack their wildest dreams and craziest ideas. The best of these are then implemented and sold in limited numbers. This project allows the team to be creative alongside their day-to-day work and to experiment with their favorite subject matter. Brewing styles, raw materials and techniques vary by brew, but Fall Craftmayer is always the same style.
This is because the brewery only has the opportunity to use freshly harvested hop cones once a year. The hop harvest depends on the weather and variety, but falls sometime in late summer in most years. During these glorious three or four weeks in August or September, the ripe umbels are picked by machine from the plants, which can be up to seven meters high.
The Rittmayer brewers went to the hop garden at exactly this point in time to secure the freshest flowers. The green gold goes directly into the boiler and is processed into a wonderful green hop beer. This year’s hop variety is Hallertauer Blanc.
