March beers are generally characterized by their balance between hops and malt. Malt often dominates and the hops only contribute fresh undertones and the harmonious bitterness. Not so with the latest version of the Craftmayer from Rittmayer. Their interpretation of the classic Märzen is a real hop bomb and puts the green gold in the spotlight.
The brewery from Hallerndorf releases a new brew at regular intervals under the Craftmayer label. The brewers have a free hand for these creations and can pursue their desire to experiment. Working as a team or alone, the men and women behind the kettles come up with exciting beers that deviate from the brewery’s traditional range. The brews are strictly limited and are only brewed once. If you want to secure a few copies, you have to be quick.
The first Craftmayer of 2023 is a hop march. The 5.5% strong brew brings a breath of fresh air to the conventional Märzen concept and spices up the classic with a whole lot of aromatic hops. Parallel to the style’s soft grain notes and gentle roasted aromas, Rittmayer’s version also presents us with pronounced hop notes that taste of tropical fruit and bitter umbels. Sweet and hoppy!
