The origin of the name Willibecher (often also spelled "Willybecher") is a mystery. No one can say for sure why this popular glass is called that, but there is a theory. Legend has it that the vessel was named after a master glassblower named Willi, who developed this model. The invention of the Willibecher is dated to the 1950s, and it has been a standard German beer glass since 1954. Thanks to its bulbous shape, which tapers towards the top, the Willibecher is suitable for a wide range of beer styles. It is sturdy and practical for everyday use, fits comfortably in the hand, and remains stable even on wobbly beer tables. You can find it in most pubs, bars, and breweries.
The Schönram private brewery also offers such a glass. Their version has a capacity of half a liter and presents a whole bottle or can of beer in all its glory. The glass features the brewery's logo and name in Fraktur script in the center. It has a thick base and a fine rim that is pleasing to the mouth. Its bulbous shape ensures a good head and concentrates the aroma, directing it towards the nose.
The Schönramer Willibecher is a durable glass with an excellent drinking experience.
