The Schorschbräu is traveling! However, it doesn’t actually change location, but rather goes on a culinary short trip to neighboring Belgium. In addition to the finest chocolate, hot fries, sweet waffles and lots of cheese, Belgium also has a whole range of unique beer specialties to offer. The Schorschbräu team has tried out all the varieties and has dared to create a Franconian interpretation of their favorite Belgian classics.
Of course, Kriek should not be missing from a selection inspired by Belgium. This beer belongs to the lambics category and is traditionally spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. The highlight, however, are the cherries that are added to the brew: for every liter of barley juice there are up to a pound of sour cherries in fresh or juice form, which give the brew a wonderfully deep red color and its exuberantly fruity taste.
The Schorschbräu largely adhered to the classic recipe, but still put its own stamp on the Kriek with an incredible 15.16% alcohol content. The Schorsch Kriek presents itself in a shimmering ruby red mahogany tone and exudes a tempting scent of cherry cake. This delightful first impression transitions into a fruity aftertaste that tantalizes the taste buds with strong cherry aromas. Soft roasted malt notes, a subtle bitterness and a fruity acidity round off this unconventional fruit beer harmoniously.
