The World Beer Cup is a renowned competition in which brewers from all over the world compete each year. Creatives can submit their beers in various categories, which will then be tasted and evaluated by an expert jury. The event is a spectacle for brewers and beer lovers alike and gives small, young breweries the opportunity to attract international attention. Not only new brewers are happy about fame and honor, but also their long-established colleagues.
The Störtebeker brewery from Stralsund is a traditional brewery and has already taken part in various awards several times. The World Beer Cup 2010 was a real highlight in brewery history: Back then, the 1402 cellar beer was voted the best cellar beer in the world. A real accolade for the brewers!
The masterpiece of the Stralsund team is a natural cellar beer with a pleasant 4.8% alcohol content and is brewed according to the Pilsner brewing method. A fine blend of organic malts and organic hops results in an elegant, light-footed cellar beer that is refreshing, skilfully hopped and down-to-earth. The hop varieties Smaragd, Select and Tradition give the smooth beer its floral playfulness and the fruity hints of apricot, while the malt contributes the strong tartness and the harmonious spiciness. A soft mouthfeel perfectly rounds off the enjoyment of beer.
