Jaws is not only the title of one of the most legendary thrillers of all time, but also the name of a collaborative brew from BRLO and Störtebeker. The two breweries have joined forces to create a joint contribution to Beer Week Berlin. Their culinary homage to the dramatic film with its acerbic protagonist is a surprisingly smooth and mellow Hazy Pale Ale.
Jaws is based on a malt mix of three grains: barley and wheat malt meet oat flakes, creating a velvety-smooth, palate-pleasing texture. The variety of grains also contributes a solid foundation that tastes of oven-fresh oatcakes and sun-ripened wheat. The Citra Cryo and Idaho 7 hop varieties are harmoniously matched, enriching the flavors with an explosion of juicy tropical fruits. Mango, passion fruit, and pineapple combine with tangy citrus to create a deliciously refreshing drink. The mild 4.5% alcohol content and a perfectly balanced 20 bitterness units add the finishing touches to the brew.
This delicious collaboration between BRLO and Störtebeker pairs well with a variety of dishes thanks to its light and flaky flavor profile, but our favorite pairing is with fries. Golden-fried potato masterpieces, which we dip piping hot in tomato-red ketchup and silky mayonnaise—a rich treat, perfectly balanced by the fresh, fruity Hazy Pale Ale Jaws.
