In summer, we long for refreshment in any form. We dream of a dip in the cool sea or an ice-cold, deep-blue mountain lake. We crave ice cream after (and, to be honest, even before) every single meal, leave the fan running all day, and wear as little clothing as possible. We drink our coffee with ice cubes (or a scoop of vanilla ice cream), eat tons of watermelon, and take cold showers several times a day. Lemonades are all the rage during the hot season—especially when they combine bubbly carbonation with juicy fruit and are served ice-cold.
We have a soft spot for citrus lemonades, which is why Fruchtkrone from the Zehendner Brewery in Mönchsambach, Franconia, is one of our favorites. This delicate fruit juice drink in a green bottle combines the summery sweetness of sun-drenched oranges with the fruity acidity and verve of Sicilian lemons. A hint of sugar and lively carbonation harmoniously round out this refreshing drink, making Fruchtkrone the perfect choice on hot summer days and in those moments when we long for just that.
The lemonade tastes wonderful on its own, but is also perfect mixed with Mönchsambacher Lager or Export to make a fruity shandy.
