Festivals are currently springing up like mushrooms and it seems as if there are a multitude of new music events every year. The concept of listening to a variety of concerts by different musicians and camping with thousands of others over the course of a weekend or a whole week seems to appeal to more and more people. In addition to brand new festivals, there are some classics, some of which have been held for decades and attract record numbers of visitors every year.
One of these festivals is Wacken. The name comes from the venue where the party has been taking place since 1990. The preferred genre of this spectacle is metal in all its variations. From the initial 6 bands, the number of players has increased to an incredible 218 and the number of visitors has also grown enormously since then. Every year, masses of metal fans dressed in black flock to Schleswig-Holstein to listen to music, drink beer and mosh together.
The legendary festival sells a lot of merchandise, including a range of beer glasses. Our favorite is a 0.38 liter tasting glass with the inscription Beer of the Gods and a stylized hop umbel. This design is the logo of the official Wacken brewery, which contributes the right beer to heavy metal year after year.
