Stroll through the lush hop fields of the Yakima Valley and smell the scent of thousands of hop cones in the warm autumn sun - brewers and beer fans should understand this longing well. The guys from the Berlin brewery Fuerst Wiacek fulfilled this dream in September 2021 and took this opportunity to choose two hop varieties for the 2022 brewing year. With flared nostrils and drawn notebooks, the two roamed through the labyrinth of meter-high green plants and sniffed the ripe umbels left and right. As a test, they crushed particularly aromatic specimens between their fingers in order to be able to assess the full potential. While strolling through the hop paradise, two varieties in particular caught your eye: Mosaic and Citra. Both thrive on the fields of Yakima Chief Hops and stood out due to their special aroma density.
From the chosen ones came the Hop Harvest Series: A Hop Harvest Mosaic IPA with sweet berry notes and fresh citrus and Hop Harvest Citra. The latter is also an India Pale Ale and comes with a strong 6.8% alcohol content. It is brewed with rolled oats, which give the beer its wonderfully creamy texture. The freshly harvested umbels of the Citra hop variety create a juicy and sparkling character with bold notes of sun-kissed citrus fruit and powerful hints of green hops.
