Ravens are impressive and mystical creatures. They always seem to gather in large, noisy groups when dusk falls over the land and casts gloomy shadows over the world. The raven is said to have extraordinary intelligence and in many places there are mysterious legends and sagas about the black bird. In superstition, the raven is a messenger of impending disaster, in Roman antiquity ravens announced approaching rain. We could tell you a hundred more myths that revolve around the feathered animal, but we’d much rather tell you about a black raven in beer-like form.
The Corvo Negro comes from the Brazilian-Californian brewery Novo Brazil and is an award-winning Russian Imperial stout with dark aromas and a fabulous 11.0% alcohol content. The beer is brewed with the Centennial hop variety, but the focus is more on the malt used.
Novo Brazil’s black raven presents itself in a deep dark chestnut brown in the glass and adorns itself with a crown of hazelnut-colored foam. A bouquet of freshly brewed coffee, creamy caramel, cocoa, red berries and exotic vanilla forms on the nose, which is continued one-to-one in the taste. A crisp bitterness with a fine roasted malt character rounds off the aromatic taste experience harmoniously.
