In addition to their classic Belgian Speciaalbier, the Duvel brewery has another excellent beer in its range: Tripel Hop.
In order to find the perfect hop variety for their Tripel Hop, the brewers brewed the beer with different hops. After trying out the tripel with several aromatic hop varieties, the brewery’s fans voted and chose the American hop Citra. Citra grows in the green meadows of the Yakima Valley and is known for giving beer a wonderfully light touch of grapefruit and tropical fruit. Tripel Hop is intended to meet the increasing demand for hop-intensive beers and is the hoppy equivalent of the malty Belgian Speciaalbier.
Tripel Hop flows into the glass in a crystal clear gold tone and forms an airy head of foam. When poured, the hoppy beer exudes a delicate scent of passion fruit, grapefruit, mango and citrus fruits. A hint of white grapes completes the olfactory palette and makes you look forward to the first sip. The light-footed beer is hoppy on the tongue: floral hops meet an exotic fruit basket. Grapefruit, lime, mango and orange meet spicy pine resin and freshly mown grass. The pearly, slightly sour taste is distantly reminiscent of champagne. Nevertheless, despite all the fruitiness, the classic Duvel taste is not neglected: the floral fruit is balanced by a nice dryness and an appropriate bitterness.
Tripel Hop is a fine alternative to the malty Duvel Belgian Speciaalbier .
