The Oude Geuze is a traditional Belgian beer style that usually combines brews from different wooden barrels. In order to achieve the most diverse, complex and refined taste possible, lambics that have been aged for different lengths of time are married together. The choice of the individual components has a significant impact on the final aroma and is a good adjustment screw for the brewmaster. The Brouwerij Boon team includes a whole range of mixing experts who have joined forces to create a very special version of the Ouden Geuze.
Boon Mono Blend VAT 92 is an Oude Geuze made primarily from a single lambic. This long-aged beer has only rested in a single barrel, making up around 90% of the total blend, and is blended with a small proportion of younger lambics. This method highlights the individual aroma of the original barrel and creates a unique taste profile. The number in the title is the number of the barrel, in this case it is barrel 92, which was previously used to mature red wine in the Rhone Valley. It gives the brew a deep oak aroma and red wine note that goes beautifully with the natural spice and notes of grape, green apple and earthy yeast.
Boon Mono Blend VAT 92 is a beer specialty for special moments!
