Although the inhabitants of Grimbergen Abbey in Belgium could well be described as unlucky, the monks preferred to name themselves after the phoenix. Her abbey has burned down three times over the last few centuries and was completely destroyed in the fire. Like the firebird, the monks rose from the ashes and rebuilt their homes each time. To this day, the men of God have kept their spirit of victory.
Instead of building houses, they now prefer to put their energy into beer. Under the golden wings of the phoenix, Grimbergen brews a small but fine selection of tasty beers.
